Job Summary:Â Â
A Utility Aide performs a wide range of routine building maintenance duties. Â Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Incumbents receive close supervision from an administrative superior.
Employees in this class work a conventional work week. Work is performed in uncomfortable surroundings, occasionally encountering such conditions as dust, odors, and inclement weather. Â Work requires moderate physical exertion.

Experience: Have one year of experience in cleaning and custodial work.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
Some agencies may require a valid Maryland Cass C Noncommercial driver’s license, or equivalent out-of-state driver’s license, acceptable to the Office of Risk Management, may be required for some agencies.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Â
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and methods.
- Knowledge of departmental practices and procedures.
- Ability to perform minor painting and carpentry duties.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability read gauges and monitor furnaces.
Background Check                                      Â
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.Â
ProbationÂ
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
