ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Sr Manager, Canadian Programs provides support for SFI and PLT Canada’s programs in Canada. This will be done through collaboration among the environmental education, careers, communications, conservation, community and standard teams. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to developing, updating and distributing communications products to support the elevation of SFI certification and PLT Canada programs, supporting forestry communications and project management for the Communications and Canadian Operations, coordinating and delivering French programming for PLT Canada and SFI, increasing access by Francophones to SFI programs and products.Â
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Support all communications for SFI and PLT Canada, including developing materials such as newsletters, blog posts, press releases, one pagers, etc.
- Create, review and update forestry communications materials, including strengthening forestry communications and elevating the role of SFI certification.
- Ensure SFI and PLT Canada communications are appropriate for Francophone audiences and available with proper French technical language.
- Represent SFI/PLT Canada at events, meetings, such as SIC meetings, trade association conferences, etc.
- Increase Francophone participation in SFI/PLT Canada programs.
- Support the delivery of environmental education and career pathways programs for PLT Canada.
- Strengthen relationships with Canadian partners, employers, Indigenous communities, and youth serving organizations.
- Support Canadian government relations efforts, such as preparing pre budget submissions, government submissions, analysis of government announcements, drafting of letters, etc.
- Support Indigenous Relations work, including relationship-building, program development, and partnership opportunities.
- Support SFI in identifying opportunities, messaging with key constituents, and other areas as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will not initially have direct employee supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires travel within Canada, up to25% of time.

WORK LOCATION:
This position is based in Canada. Employees located withing commuting distance of Washington, DC or Ottawa are required to work from the office 2 days per week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays as designated in-office days. For the remaining days of the week, you may choose to either work from the office or remotely from your home. SFI reserves the right to increase in-person days to three or more days per week in the future.

WHAT YOU BRING:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant work experience considered in lieu
- At least 5 years’ work experience in a related field.
- Direct experience in the forestry, natural resources, or education sectors required.
- Experience working with youth and exposure to career pathways for youth and/or educators an asset.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with information systems and technology, including Microsoft Office suite and WordPress; advanced level of expertise with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred; capacity to learn new applications.
- Bilingual (French and English)mandatory.
Content Management Systems (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) familiarity (particularly WordPress and Salesforce) preferred.
