Position Summary

TheSupplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all purchased products and services consistently meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role partners closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and Quality, to resolve supplier-related issues, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with aerospace quality standards.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review supplier quality documentation, certifications, inspection reports, and material traceability records.
  • Manage supplier nonconformances and initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
  • Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and purchase order quality requirements.
  • Assist with internal, customer, and regulatory audits related to supplier quality.
  • Coordinate the disposition of nonconforming supplier material with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate supplier quality records within the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Travel to supplier facilities as needed to conduct audits, inspections, investigations, and improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing quality, or a related field; aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Aerospace manufacturing or aerospace aftermarket experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) strongly preferred.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits, managing corrective actions, performing root cause analysis, and supporting First Article Inspections preferred.
  • ASQ certification (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)) is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of aerospace quality standards and supplier quality practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, and applicable FAA regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate quality expectations clearly, professionally, and effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP systems and electronic Quality Management Systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-30% based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and quality inspection methodologies.
  • Prior experience working directly with suppliers in a regulated manufacturing environment.
