Description

We are seeking a talented Real-Time VFX artist on a freelance/contract basis, you will be working both independentlyand collaboratively with the development team to make the best-lookingVFX. The Effects Artist isexpected to concept/design effects either in 2D or 3D to convey the design/motion and overall idea totheir leads.  


You willcollaborate with our Creative/Art Director in developing visually stunning VFX thatenhances our projects' artistic vision.Youwill create stylistically consistent and impactful VFX assets using particles, geometry, animation, and materials, while ensuring efficiency and adherence to technical budgets.Strong communication skills are essential, as you will regularly update the Creative/Art Director and Producer on project milestones and seek guidance when necessary. 


In this role, you will work closely with fellow artists and engineers tooptimize the art pipeline andestablish technical benchmarks, fostering a collaborative environment. Staying current with industry-standard tools and techniques is vital to your personal and professional development. 


This is a fully remote, project-based engagement: scope, deliverables, timelines, and rates are defined per work order. It is not a full-time employment position.


Job Skills

VFX Artist will possess the following job skills:

  • Hands-on experience with game engines (UE4, Unity3D, etc.)
    • Production-ready 
  • 3D software and plug-in (Maya, 3Ds Max, Blender, etc.) 
    • Production-ready
  • Knowledge of how tooptimize for video game hardware 
    • Production-ready
  • Adobe Photoshop and/or After Effects or Substance Designer 
    • Production-ready
  • Practical and symbolic VFX knowledge 
    • Production-ready
  • Particle / Simulation / Dynamic VFX 
    • Production-ready
  • Shader / Material Authoring 
    • Production-ready


Additional Competencies 

Every VFX Artist must alsodemonstrateat least 1additional competency at Production-readyproficiency, or 2additional competencies at beginner-level:

    • Programming/scripting experience "Blueprint, Python etc., 
    • Knowledge of Lighting and Post process 
    • Substance Painter 
    • ZBrush / Sculpting workflow 
    • Additional Art Styles for VFX "Realistic / Stylized" 
    • FumeFX /EmberGen 
    • Houdini "Simulation, Automation, Procedural Workflow" 
    • Blender Geometry Nodes "Simulation, procedural Workflow" 
    • Unreal Engine Rendering (Lighting, Rendering)

    • On-time delivery of project deliverables
    • Outcomes delivered as per project specifications, consistently
    • Time spent on an outcome is within project or budgeted mandays
