The Opportunity

This is a critical growth role within a firm that is actively expanding its capabilities. The incoming Staff Accountant will join at a pivotal moment — getting in on the ground floor of a firm-wide implementation of Avalon, an AI-based accounting platform integrating with QuickBooks and Sage. This is not a siloed position. You will work directly alongside firm leadership, contribute across tax and accounting functions, and have meaningful client interaction from day one.

What You'll Do

• Support the preparation and processing of individual and business tax returns using Drake Tax software
• Perform accounting and bookkeeping functions for clients during the off-season
• Provide clients with feedback and updates — this role has a client-facing component
• Participate actively in the installation and rollout of Avalon AI-based accounting software
• Collaborate with firm leadership and staff across all functions — this is a team environment where everyone pitches in

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• 0–4 years of experience — new graduates are welcome to apply
• Drake Tax, QuickBooks, or Sage experience a plus; willingness to learn is what matters most
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Comfortable interacting with clients professionally and confidently
• Team player who thrives in a small, collaborative environment
• Reliable, coachable, and looking to grow with a firm long-term

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $60,000–$65,000 (flexible for the right candidate)
• Health Insurance: company contributes 50% of premium
• 401(k)
• PTO: prorated upon start; 5 sick days and 1 week vacation after first year
• Holidays: 10 paid holidays
• Schedule: Flexible — core hours approximately 9–4, with accommodation for personal and family needs
