Director of Care
Mission:
As theDirector of Care,you will contribute to the Extendicare purpose ofHelping PeopleLive Better, by leading a high performing team that is dedicated to ensuring all residentsreceive the care they need.The Director of Care(DOC)is a highly skilled andcompassionate leader who leads the care team in delivering exceptionalresidentcenteredcare ata long-term care home. The DOCmanagesall aspects ofcareoperations, ensuringbest practicesconsistent withExtendicare, Accreditationstandards and provincialregulations.Leading and inspiring an engaged team of care professionals is central toachieving an excellent resident experience.Engagement with residents and families to
develop a trust relationship is key to resident satisfaction andachieving our mission toprovide people with the care they need, wherever they call home.

• Serve as a strong advocate for resident safety and the ongoing improvement of qualitycare.
• Attain highresident andfamilyengagementas measured throughExperienceSurveyResults,by caring for each person as we would our own family
• Consistently meet or exceed all qualityandclinicalindicators for residentsthrough theeffective execution of required clinical programs.
• Foster apositivecultureand employee experience, driving an increase in overallemployeeengagementcompared to the previous year.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory complianceregarding resident plan of care,as well asorganizational standards,policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
•Cultivate-leadtheresident care team, providingday-to-dayguidanceand fosteringapositive work environmentthat encourages collaboration,accountability, driveshighperformance and ensures retention by deliveringan exceptionalemployee experience.
•Train-Ensure that all care staff receivethe educationrequired for the effectiveperformance of their rolesand promoting professional development.
•Financial stewardship-Manage the care staff complement consistent with theExtendicare model of care that meets the provincial/legislated hours of care. Overseethefinancialmanagement, includingassisting with budget preparation and varianceanalysisof the nursing department
•Comply-Monitor and ensure compliance withallhealthcare regulations, licensingrequirements, accreditation standardsand labour and employment standards, includingtimely investigationsand consistent action planning.

•Risk Management-Identify and manage resident issues as they arise, and ensureclinical risks are mitigated and immediate action taken on critical incidents in keepingwith regulatory requirements.
•Customer Service-Byemploying the customer service mindset, accept and respondto feedback (complaints, recognition or suggestions) fromresidents, families,vendors and team members with acknowledgement and empathy.
•ResidentCare-Overseeresidentassessment and care planning processes, ensuringpersonalized care plans are developed andimplementedbased on residentpreferences.
•Collaborate-Participate actively and collaborate withthe leadershipteamand liaisewith care staff, residents and familiestodeliverand optimizeresidentcare.
•Improve-Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhanceresidentsafety,wellnessand satisfaction, because we are relentless in our efforts to improve.
•Strategicplanning–in support of the homelevel strategic priorities, develop theoperational planswith respect toclinical operations andstaffing,which support andenhance resident care.
•Community partnership-engage with vendors onquality initiatives and trainingrequirements, collaborate with communityhealthpartnersfor the betterment ofresident care
•Values Alignment-Uphold and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision and Valuesand philosophy regarding ethics, morality, and integrity
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred.
•Current and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the applicableProvincial licensing body is required.
•Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience,in addition toat least 2 years in a
leadership role in a long-term care facilityor other health facility.
•Workingknowledge oflong-term careregulations, standards, and best practices.
•Demonstrated expertise inleadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and build positive
relationships.
•Proven track record of implementing quality improvement initiatives and achievingpositiveresidentoutcomes.
•Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and otherrelevant technology

Compensation Details

$110,000.00 - $140,000.00
