🌿 About the Role
As aSpiritual Care Counselor, you’ll be an integral member of our interdisciplinary hospice team, providing individualized spiritual assessment, counseling, and support topatients, families, caregivers, and staff.
You’ll walk alongside individuals as they explore questions ofmeaning, hope, faith, purpose, and peace, always honoring each person’s unique spiritual journey. This role requires the ability to provide compassionate spiritual care to individuals fromdiverse religious, spiritual, cultural, and personal belief systems—including those who may not identify with a particular faith tradition.
✨ Key Responsibilities
🌿 Conduct comprehensivespiritual assessments and contribute to individualized plans of care based on each patient and family’s needs, beliefs, and preferences.
💙 Provide ongoing spiritual counseling, emotional support, and compassionate presence to patients and families throughout the hospice journey.
🙏 Coordinate or providesacramental ministry, rituals, prayer, and faith-specific services as requested by patients and families.
👥 Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with nurses, social workers, physicians, hospice aides, and other members of the care team.
🤝 Provide spiritual care consultation, education, and guidance to hospice staff and volunteers.
🏡 Build and maintain meaningful relationships withlocal faith communities and community partners, serving as an ambassador for hospice services.
🕊️ Officiate or assist withfunerals, memorial services, remembrance ceremonies, and other services as requested.
📝 Complete timely and accurate documentation while maintaining organizational and regulatory compliance.
📞 Participate in theevening and weekend on-call rotation to ensure spiritual support is available when patients and families need it.
Qualifications
🎯 Qualifications
✅ Required
🎓Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent graduate theological degree from an accredited seminary or theological school.
🌿 Minimum ofone unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
🙏Three or more years of pastoral ministry and/or hospice chaplain experience.
🚗 ValidFlorida Driver’s License.
💬 Strong verbal and written communication skills.
🤝 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful, respectful relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and community partners.
📋 Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage responsibilities independently in a community-based care environment.
⭐ Preferred
🌿Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
🏥 Previoushospice or hospital chaplaincy experience.
🙏Denominational or faith community endorsement.
