As a Senior Business Consultant, you will operate as advisor to UK mortgage and savings providers, owning senior client relationships and shaping high value engagements across service oversight, strategic consulting, and delivery leadership.Â
You will be accountable for client outcomes, service excellence, and revenue growth, combining deep industry expertise with strong commercial judgement and delivery oversight. This role is suited experienced professionals who want genuine accountability for client success, commercial impact, and delivery outcomes, while remaining close to clients and the work itself.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
End-to-End Delivery Leadership & Client ValueÂ
- Provide senior leadership across client engagements from discovery through delivery, maintaining accountability for outcomes rather than day-to-day executionÂ
- Shape delivery approaches by applying deep understanding of client objectives, regulatory drivers, and operational context to ensure initiatives deliver meaningful business valueÂ
- Contribute to presales and solution shaping, ensuring proposed approaches are coherent, deliverable, and aligned to client strategy and prioritiesÂ
- Act as a Product Owner or delivery lead where required, making informed trade-offs to balance value, quality, regulatory considerations, and delivery paceÂ
- Identify opportunities to enhance client outcomes through insight gained during delivery, working in partnership with Account Managers to progress these where appropriateÂ
High-Value Consulting & Continuous ImprovementÂ
- Identify systemic and operational pain points across mortgage and savings environmentsÂ
- Lead consulting engagements focused on:Â
- Process optimisation and operational efficiencyÂ
- Risk reduction and service resilienceÂ
- Platform and capability enablementÂ
- Conduct root cause analysis of complex issues, ensuring preventative and sustainable improvements are implementedÂ
- Collaborate with clients to introduce new products, services, or operating approaches that improve outcomes and long-term valueÂ
Service Oversight & Operational AssuranceÂ
- Own service oversight for assigned client portfolios, ensuring service performance supports business continuity, contractual commitments and service excellenceÂ
- Lead structured service reviews covering:
- SLA, availability, and batch performanceÂ
- Operational risk and incident trendsÂ
- Service improvement initiativesÂ
- Develop and execute service improvement plans aligned to both managed service performance and client strategic objectivesÂ
Consultancy Leadership & Capability DevelopmentÂ
- Act as a role model for consulting excellence across the practiceÂ
- Coach and mentor consultants, supporting development across:Â
- Client engagementÂ
- Service managementÂ
- Consulting approachÂ
- Promote a proactive, outcome-driven culture focused on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvementÂ
- Contribute to the evolution of consulting methodologies, industry playbooks, and reusable assetsÂ
Essential Skill ProfileÂ
- Significant experience working within UK mortgage and/or savings environments ideally in a Tier 1 UK Bank or Consultancy Practice, with a strong understanding of products, customer journeys, and operating modelsÂ
- Demonstrated experience leading high-value consulting engagements, from problem identification through to outcome deliveryÂ
- Proven ability to operate alongside Executive and Heads of client stakeholders across business, operations, and technologyÂ
- Strong capability in discovery, solution shaping, and requirement definition, including epics and user stories aligned to business outcomesÂ
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex operational or technical issues into clear business insightÂ
- Experience contributing to presales activity, including RFP responses, estimation, or client demonstrationsÂ
Desirable Skill ProfileÂ
- Understanding of service management concepts, including SLA performance, incident trends, and continuous improvementÂ
- Track record of mentoring or coaching consultants and contributing to practice capability developmentÂ
- Hands-on experience acting as a Product Owner or delivery lead in agile or hybrid environmentsÂ
- Formal qualifications in ITIL, Agile, Business Analysis, or Lean / Six SigmaÂ
- Exposure to regulated financial services change, including risk, operational resilience, or customer outcome–driven initiativesÂ
