Behind this is a global platform operating at significant scale. Our systems process billions of requests every month, creating interesting engineering challenges across web applications, backend services, distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.

Now we're bringing that engineering to Finland.

We're building a brand-new Center of Excellence in Helsinki, creating a rare opportunity to join one of its first engineering teams. You'll work across products and platforms within the Songtradr portfolio while helping shape the ways of working and engineering culture of our new Helsinki organisation.

The role

We're looking for aTeam Lead & Software Engineer to join our backend engineering team in Helsinki.

This isfirst and foremosta hands-on engineering role. Around 80% of your time will be spent building software alongside the rest of the team, while approximately 20% will focus on supporting the people around you as their Team Lead.

As Team Lead, you'll act as the people manager for a small team of engineers. You'll have regular1:1s, lead development and performance discussions, coach and mentor team members, and help create an environment where people can do their best work.

This isn't a traditional lead role where you spend your days assigning tasks or deciding what everyone should work on. Prioritisation is handled through the wider product and engineering process. Your role is to enable the team, support individual growth and help information flow smoothly between your team, our Backend Director and the wider organisation.

Your work will include:

• Building and evolving backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript

• Taking ownership from technical design through development, testing and delivery

• Solving challenges around reliability, scalability, performance and maintainability

• Improving and modernising established applications and systems

• Supporting a team of engineers through regular 1:1s, development discussions and coaching

• Collaborating with engineering colleagues and leadership across our global organisation

• Exploring how AI-assisted development can help us build and deliver better software

Tech Stack

Our technology landscape varies across products and continues to evolve as we grow. In the backend team, you'll primarily work with technologies such as:

• Node.js & TypeScript

• AWS & GCP

• REST APIs, microservices & event-driven architectures

• Distributed systems

• SQL, NoSQL & S3

• Docker & Linux

You'll also findRuby and .NET in parts of our established platform. Previous experience with either is a plus, but not a requirement.

What we're looking for

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Solid professional experience in backend software development, ideally with Node.js, TypeScript or similar technologies

• Experience building and operating production services and APIs, with a good understanding of cloud environments, databases and modern backend architectures

• A strong quality mindset and the ability to take ownership and deliver software end to end

• Experience supporting, mentoring or managing other software engineers

• A genuine interest in people leadership while remaining strongly hands-on technically

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, plus an interest in using AI-assisted development as part of your everyday work

You don't need years of formal management experience. Perhaps you've already worked as a Team Lead, or you've started taking on 1:1s, mentoring, coaching or other people responsibilities alongside your engineering work and would like to grow further in that direction.
