Social Services Worker (8291)
Schedule/Hours:Â M-F, 9:00AM -3:30PM
This position is responsible for:Â
Provides social service assistance to eligible clients in the areas of food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance; interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.Â
Key Responsibilities:Â

Greets and interviews clients requesting assistance, determines eligibility based on program guidelines and restrictions, and assists clients with completing required applications and documentation.Â

Prepares and processes food, clothing, furniture, rent, utility, and other approved assistance for eligible clients, including coordination with landlords, utility providers, and other resources.Â

Provides food pantry assistance; receives and stocks donated pantry items; and maintains accurate pantry disbursement and inventory records.Â

Serves as a liaison with community agencies to obtain and coordinate assistance on behalf of clients and maintains effective professional working relationships.Â

Prepares, files, reviews, and maintains accurate and confidential client records, service statistics, and monthly statistical reports in a timely manner.Â
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Â

Ability to meet attendance requirements.Â

Duties are usually performed seated, with brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.Â

Limited physical effort is required for walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects weighing less than 25 lbs., approximately 5-10% of work time.Â

Work is performed in a normal office environment with little or no physical discomfort associated with weather changes, noise, dust, dirt, or similar conditions.Â

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, with additional secretarial courses preferred; ANDÂ

Two (2) years of experience performing clerical work in an office environment; ORÂ

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Â
