Position Summary
This role is ideal for experienced canvassers ready to take on peer leadership within their field team and learn the inner workings of political field management. Successful candidates are strong interpersonal communicators who demonstrate positive coaching ability, display mastery of the campaign's messaging strategy, and are comfortable with the tools and routines that keep a canvass operation running.
Position Schedule
Monday & Wednesday: 8AM - 9AM then 8PM - 9PM (2 hours worked each day)
Tuesday & Thursday: 3PM -9:30PM (6 hours worked with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Saturday & Sunday: 9:15AM - 6:15PM (8 hours worked with a 1-hour unpaid lunch)
Fridays: OFF
What You Will Achieve
Field Visits and Shadowing
- Visit canvassers in the field as directed by the Field Director
- Observe canvassers at the door and offer general guidance on best practices
- Provide mid-shift guidance and coaching as appropriate
- Route any questions about campaign messaging or the candidate's position on specific issues to the Field Director
Team Communication
- Ensure every canvasser on the team is set up and using the correct Slack channels
- Help troubleshoot any Slack access issues before canvassers head out
Basic Tech Support
- Help canvassers sign into ADP and PDI
- Help canvassers navigate PDI in the field
- Help canvassers record hours in ADP
Debrief Support
- Assist the Field Director with note-taking during debrief
- Remind canvassers who drove to submit their mileage form
- Take attendance as part of debrief or briefing when the Field Director requires it
Campaign Operations Support
- Manage canvasser turf assignments
- Review and quality-control nightly data submissions
- Assist the field director with logistics tasks necessary for smooth operations of the field program
- Assist with cleaning and organizing the field office
Who You Are
- Prior experience canvassing or working on a field campaign required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coach canvassers supportively, without giving disciplinary or punitive feedback
- Comfortable taking direction and executing against priorities set by a Field Director
- Working familiarity with Slack, ADP, and PDI, or the ability to learn them quickly
- Available for the schedule outline each week on their assigned campaign
- Meets the qualifications for canvass team drivers
- In good standing with their Field Director, Senior Campaign Supervisor, and SLS
