Sentara Health is hiring OB GYN Ultrasound Technician /Medical Sonographer in Harrisonburg, VA!

Job Description

Conducts general diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies of patients, within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician, to include: scanning of patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology, operation of sonography equipment, operation of the electronic radiology systems, preparation of patient room/equipment/medications, and maintains adequate supply inventory. Explains examination and procedure to patients and completes departmental documentation. Competent in use and logging of infection control equipment.

Education

  • HS Diploma or equivalency Required
  • Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • Completion of a training program acceptable to their registry board, ARRT, or ARDMSRequired
  • Registered ARRT or ARDMS required upon hire for ACR-accredited sites - Required
  • For ICAVL-accredited sites, candidates who are not yet credentialed may be hired as provisional technical staff, must work under the direct supervision of a credentialed vascular/general sonographer, and must obtain the appropriate vascular/general sonography credential within two years of the start date of trainingRequired
