Principal Scientist – Extractables & Leachables (E&L) (x|f|m) 

We are looking for a Principal Scientist – Extractables & Leachables (E&L) (x|f|m) or the PD Science and Testing FMTdepartment. The Principal Scientist (x|f|m)  is a globally recognized technical expert responsible for shaping and executing Sartorius’ E&L strategy across products, services, and scientific positioning. The role combines deep scientific expertise, industry influence, and strategic leadership, bridging science, product development, regulatory expectations, and customer needs to sustain Sartorius’ leadership in E&L for single-use systems, drive innovation, and reduce experimental burden through predictive and mechanistic approaches.
Preferred location is Göttingen (Germany). Alternatively, this position can be based at other Sartorius sites across Europe, including: France, United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain.

• Define andexecutethestrategyoftheExtractables &Leachablestechnologyarea inalignmentwithProduct and Technology Roadmapstoinfluencebusinessdirection

• Drivetheevolutionofscience-based andproactive E&Lapproaches,movingbeyondreactivecompliance andreducing experimentalburdenthroughpredictivemethodologies

• Develop andadvancemechanistic anddata-driven E&Lmethodologies,includingpredictivemodels andintegrationoftoxicologicaldataintorisk andsafetyframeworks

• Evaluateemergingindustrytrends,regulatorydevelopments, andstate-of-the-arttechnologiestoidentifyinnovationopportunities andguidescientificdirection

• Actas internal and external Key Opinion Leader,contributingtoindustryconsortia,regulatory initiatives,scientificpublications, andconferencepresentations

• Lead high-leveltechnicaldiscussionswithcustomers andcontributetoproductqualificationstrategies,ensuring strongcustomervaluecreation anddifferentiation

• Build andleverage internal and externalnetworkswhilecoaching andmentoringscientists andensuringknowledgetransferacrossteams andfunctions

What willconvinceus

• PhDwith at least 10yearsofexperienceorMaster’sdegreewith at least 12yearsofexperience

• Recognized global expert inExtractables &Leachables,materialsscience,or arelatedfieldwith a strong trackrecord (e.g.,publications,patents,presentations)

• Deepexpertise in E&Lscience, polymeror materialchemistry and/orbiopharmaceuticalprocesses, andtoxicological andsafetyassessmentconcepts

• Strongunderstandingof GMP andpharmaceuticalregulatoryrequirementsaswellasbiopharmamanufacturingprocesses and single-usesystemapplications

• Provenexperience inmodeling,data-drivenapproaches,or digitaltoolsaswellastheabilitytotranslatescienceintobusinessimpact

• Excellentcommunication andinfluencingskillsacross diversestakeholderscombinedwith strongmentoring andrelationship-buildingcapabilities

• Exceptional problem-solving anddecision-makingskills incomplexenvironments and a highlevelofautonomy andscientificcredibilit
