Full Stack Developer - Hybrid (Lisbon, Portugal) · Full time Starting date: ASAP
from 🇵🇹 Portugal
Description
You'll own real product surface from week one: integrations with internal and external APIs that directly move our sales and expenses. Not a ticket-taker role — you'll design, ship, and maintain systems the business depends on daily.
We're a small team. That means visible impact, direct access to decisions, and no place to hide.
Sanjow
From ideas to ventures. Since 2018, we have built ventures from the ground up across various sectors — from simplifying complex online procedures to enabling customers around the globe to book the best travel deals. Our core team blends expertise in finance, operations, marketing, and IT, working hand in hand from our Lisbon studio to accelerate the growth of our projects.
Our brand's name comes from the contraction of "support" in Japanese ("sanjo") and "flow". It is part of our brand's DNA to assist individuals and businesses with our turnkey online solutions.
You will join our main tech team, collaborating closely with the payments team and the frontend product team.
You will
- Design and build integrations with internal and external APIs with direct impact on sales and expenses
- Develop and optimize e-commerce websites and services
- Maintain our back office and database
- Ship frontend features in Next.js/React alongside our product team
- Collaborate with the payments team on integration points
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Ship daily with AI agentic tools (Claude Code, Cursor) — this is how we work, not a buzzword
What success looks like
- 3 months: shipping independently across our integration stack; you know the codebase and the people
- 6 months: owning key internal/external API integrations end to end; flagging risks before they become incidents
- 12 months: trusted technical reference for your domain; driving improvements we didn't ask for
Requirements
At least 4 years of professional experience as a developer, with:
Backend
- Node.js with TypeScript (NestJS experience is a strong plus)
- REST API design and third-party integrations
Frontend
- Next.js and React
- HTML, CSS (TailwindCSS is a plus)
- JavaScript/TypeScript
Database
- PostgreSQL (Prisma is a plus)
Business Context
- Familiarity with subscription business models and payment flows (you'll integrate with them, not own them)
Language
- Fluent English, written and spoken
Engineering Practices
- Solid Git experience (branching strategies, code review workflows, GitHub)
- SCRUM / Agile development
- CI/CD awareness (pipelines, automated testing, deployment)
- Experience with AI agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)
How you work
- You flag problems before deadlines, not after
- You'd rather say "I don't know" than bluff
- You communicate what you're doing without being asked
- You treat the product as yours — including the parts nobody's watching
What we won't promise
- Full-remote — we're hybrid in Lisbon and it matters to us
- A legacy-free codebase — some exists; you'll help retire it
- A rigid career ladder — growth here is earned through ownership, not tenure
Benefits
- Hybrid work model based in Lisbon
- Health insurance
- Meal allowance
- Coffee & snacks
- Real ownership in a fast-growing Lisbon startup studio
- Small team, senior peers, direct access to decision-makers
- A diversity of day-to-day tasks across ventures
- A unique opportunity to onboard ideas, test them, and push them to users
How to apply
Skip the cover letter. Instead, send us:
- Your CV
- An API integration you shipped with real business impact — including what you got wrong first
- Optional, but a plus: a 60–90 second video (Loom or similar) shared as a link — who you are, why this role. Make sure it's viewable without login
- Somewhere in your application, mention the word "Sanjow" — it tells us you actually read this
Applications missing items 1, 2, or 4 won't be reviewed. It's not bureaucracy — it's how we find people who care.
