Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Our client, an establishedhosting provider serving B2B clients across regulated industries, is looking to recruit aSenior Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing Technical Department.

Working closely with the Technical Lead, the successful candidate will take ownership of complex infrastructure environments, help establish and maintain technical standards, and provide guidance to junior members of the team.

What You'll Do

• Linux Administration – Manage production Ubuntu and AlmaLinux environments, including web and mail services, system hardening, firewall configuration, performance tuning and live troubleshooting.

• Virtualisation – Design, migrate and maintain VMware (vSphere/ESXi), Proxmox and Hyper-V environments, including storage, high availability and backup/restore.

• Networking – Manage and troubleshoot TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and firewall environments. Experience with pfSense and OpenVPN would be considered an advantage.

• Incident Response – Act as an escalation point during infrastructure incidents and outages, carrying out root-cause analysis, resolving issues and communicating clearly with internal teams and clients.

• Technical Standards – Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and procedures in line with information security and quality standards.

• Change Management – Review infrastructure changes and contribute towards improving technical processes and operational reliability.

• Mentoring – Support and mentor junior engineers as the Technical Department continues to grow.

What We're Looking For

• At least5 years of hands-on production experience across Linux, virtualisation and networking.

• Strong experience managingLinux production environments, particularly Ubuntu and/or AlmaLinux.

• Solid knowledge ofVMware, Proxmox and/or Hyper-V environments.

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, includingTCP/IP, VLANs, routing and firewalls.

• Previous experience acting as a technical escalation point within ahosting provider, MSP, data centre or regulated B2B environment.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and calmly under pressure.

• A structured and methodical approach to documentation, processes and infrastructure management.

• Excellent communication skills inEnglish, including the ability to communicate technical matters to non-technical stakeholders.

• Relevant certifications such asRHCE, VCP, CCNA or CCNP would be considered an advantage.
