Position Summary

The Senior Manager, International Tax Reporting & Planning will play a key role in Altera’s global tax function, leading international tax reporting, planning, and compliance initiatives across the US and non-US jurisdictions. This role is responsible for supporting the worldwide income tax provision under ASC 740, managing complex international tax matters, and providing strategic tax guidance on business transactions, restructurings, global expansion, and operational initiatives.

The position will partner closely with Tax Reporting and Compliance, Finance, Treasury, Legal, HR, and business leaders, as well as external advisors, to ensure tax-efficient and compliant operations worldwide. The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise, strategic business acumen, and the ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to senior leadership. This role offers significant visibility across the organization and the opportunity to influence key business and tax decisions. The position reports directly to the Global Head of Tax.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the US international components of the quarterly and annual global income tax provisionunder ASC 740: NCTI/GILTI, Subpart F, FDDEI/FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credit computations, Section 861 expense allocation and apportionment, E&P/PTEP tracking, indefinite reinvestment assertions, valuation allowance analyses, and uncertain tax position assessments.

  • Partner with internal Tax Reporting and Compliance teams, as well as external advisors, to support and review US international and non-US direct/indirect tax compliance activities

  • Evaluate tax implications of business restructurings, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, financing transactions, and legal entity rationalizations

  • Support transfer pricing strategies and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives

  • Support US withholding tax compliance (Forms 1042/1042-S), cross-border payment analysis, and treaty-related considerations

  • Monitor and model legislative and regulatory developments (e.g., OBBBA implementation guidance, Pillar Two interaction with the US system) and model provision, effective tax rate, and cash tax impacts for leadership

  • Assess tax impacts associated with global supply chain, manufacturing, and commercialization activities

  • Manage outside advisors, support audit defense and controversy on US international and non-US tax issues, and mentor and develop tax team members

The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based ona number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences,trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:

Required

  • CPA and/or JD; Masters in Accounting/Taxation or LLM in Taxation is plus

  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience in Big 4 public accounting and/or in-house corporate tax department experience.

  • Deep technical expertise in US international tax provisions and cross-border tax planning.

  • Experience supporting multinational corporate structures and global business operations.

  • Proven ability to lead complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to translate technical tax concepts into practical business recommendations.

Preferred

  • Experience within the semiconductor, technology, manufacturing, or multinational industry.

  • Familiarity with OECD Pillar Two regulations and global tax reform initiatives.

  • Experience supporting M&A transactions and corporate restructurings.

  • Knowledge of transfer pricing principles and global tax controversy matters.
