Main Purpose of Role:

AYBL is looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Junior Garment Technologist with knowledge across multiple product types to support our Garment Technology and Design teams. Reporting to the Senior Garment Technologist, you will help ensure every product meets our high standards for fit, function, quality and performance.

This role is to assist with product ranges, from initial design through to production. You'll work closely with the Design and Garment Technology teams to create and develop new, innovative products that are fit for purpose and consistent in fit with current ranges.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Work closely with Garment Technologists and Designers to develop branded products that are fit for purpose
• Create initial development size specifications based on Design CADs and inspiration
• Measure samples ahead of fit sessions
• Organise samples for fit sessions and assist during sessions, taking clear notes and images
• Assist with product ranges, feeding back clear fit comments to suppliers
• Chase fit samples and production/shipment samples
• Review production/shipment samples to confirm they meet agreed standards of fit, quality, labelling and packaging
• Support general day-to-day admin and organisation within the garment technology department, including fit samples, QC reports and fabric testing
• Conduct wearer trials within the business and use feedback to inform product development

Person Specification

• Minimum of 1 year's experience in a Garment Technologist role
• Degree in Garment Technology or a similar discipline
• Good knowledge of multi-product fit across womenswear and menswear
• Good knowledge of pattern cutting and grading
• Solid knowledge of fabrics, materials and components
• Knowledge of PLM systems
• Excellent attention to detail
• Driven work ethic, keen to assist and support the wider team
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Passionate about making a difference
• Good organisational and planning skills
• An interest in the fitness industry would be advantageous

Our home is located in Redditch, South Birmingham, with easy access routes to the M5/M42, a 20-minute walk to the train station, as well as many bus routes. Not forgetting Arrow Valley Lake which is a stone’s throw away and a beautiful spot to get those steps in or enjoy your lunch with a view.
