Job Description

Location:

Bill Johnson Correctional Center

Basic Purpose 

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the management, from acquisition to disposal, of all supplies and equipment used to support an institution or agency. These responsibilities include procurement, receipt, storage, control, issuance, inventory, delivery of material, equipment, records, agency mail, and other supplies used to support agency business practices. 

 

Typical Functions 

  • Receives, issues, ships and arranges materials, equipment, records, agency mail and other in proper locations using machinery as needed. 

  • Provides centralized mail services and/or performs centralized printing functions. 

  • Inspects items for conformance with specifications. 

  • Conducts inventories andmaintains records, filesreports and performs necessary administrative duties. 

  • Assists requisitioners in preparation of specifications. 

  • Acts as liaison to the agencypurchasing agent/Central Purchasing. 

  • Supervises and trains subordinate personnel and edits requisitions and purchase orders. 

  • Confers with department heads, vendors, and outside agencies concerning purchases, deliveries, and acceptability of supplies. 

  • Coordinates with other units/divisions as needed to clarify policy, procedure anddetermine status for a wide range of service and support related requests, which may include the acquisition, storage, disbursement and/or disposal of assets and records. 

 

Level Descriptor 

This is the leadership level where incumbents are assigned responsibility for the supervision of others; and for planning, organizing, and managing the procurement, storage, control, issuance, distribution and delivery, and inventory of material used in the operation of an institution or agency. Incumbents may be responsible for directing the overall operations of a warehouse having responsibility for statewide establishingobjectives, and devising plans. distribution of supplies or other material; insuring compliance with safety, OSHA standards, training,establishingobjectives, and devising plans. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of simple arithmetic; of the English language; of storage methods and procedures; of inventory methods and techniques and maintaining detailed inventory records; of warehousing practices and techniques; of stock handling; of the operation of warehouse equipment; and of stock identification methods; of the methods and procedures for acquisition of material; of warehousing methods, principles, procedures, and expediting techniques; of inventory methods and procedures; of the use of the various types of mechanicalequipment used in warehousing operations; and of supervisory principles and practices. 

 

Ability is required to write simple reports; to follow oral or written instructions; to establish and maintaineffective working relationships with others; to store and warehouse a variety of supplies; to maintaindetailed inventory records; to maintain accurate warehouse records; to follow oral and writteninstructions; to provide training and supervision to others; to take accurate inventories; and to writereports and keep records. 

 

Skillis required tooperate a forklift. 

 

Education and Experience 

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of four (4) years of experience in stock handling,warehousing and inventory control; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Special Requirements 

Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position. 

 

Agencies may require selected positions to perform moderately heavy lifting or other manual tasks. 

 

Agencies may require positions to lift/carry 70 (seventy) pounds occasionally, 25 (twenty-five) poundsfrequently, and to push and pull a maximum force of 40 (forty) pounds. Additionally, agencies mayrequire applicants receiving a conditional offer of employment tosubmit to a physical examination toverify the ability to meet those physical requirements. 

 

Agencies maydetermine specific positions in this job family to be safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. §427.8.
