About the Role 

TheLine LocatorTechnicianreports to theProject Manager atBermex. This positionplays a key role indetecting andlocating underground utility lines and pipes.This positionalsorequireshighphysical activity, excellentattention to detail, and exceptional flexibility day to day. 

***Salary Transparency: Pay for this role is at $25/hour. ***

WhatYou’ll Do 

Line Locating: 

  • Receivework tickets from the 811system 

  • Readand interpretutility maps showing undergroundutilities 

  • Use magnetic sensing equipment and maps(Sure-Lock Utility Pro)toidentify the location of underground utility lines andpipes 

  • Use color coded spray paint is used to mark the location and type (Electric, water, gas, telephone, etc.) of undergroundline 

  • Workin various weather conditions and use shovelsnecessary to pin-point the location of undergroundutilities 

  • Follow strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines for Utility Line Marking 

  • Provide records of work performed using a digital camera andlaptop 

Team Collaboration: 

  • Participate in safetymeetings 

  • Providetimely reports and documentation to management perprocedures 

  • Escalate issues and questions to Supervisor perprocedures 

  • Report customer,equipment and vehicle issuesimmediately 

Customer Communication: 

  • Refer all consumer complaints to theappropriateauthorities 

  • Provide general information aboututility lines or pipes to customers, when applicable 

  • Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers tocommunicate 

Other duties as assigned. 

About You 

Must haves: 

  • Education:None. Must be at least 18 years of age  

  • Experience: No experience necessary, employees will be trained.Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training.Mustpossess a valid driver’s license 

Nice to haves: 

  • Education: High School Diploma orGED.  

  • Experience:1 or more years of experience inlinelocating 

Your Skills: 

  • Ability to multi-task, and work independently andas a team 

  • Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and scheduling  

  • Adequate time management skills to finishworkin a timelymanner 

  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interactingwithmanagement and customers 

  • Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professionalmanner 

  • Excellent attention to detail for problem solving andfinding 

  • Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions,accordingly  

This role would not be a good fit if you: 

  • Do notenjoy workingindependently 

  • Do not enjoy working in outdoorconditions 

  • Do not enjoy walking longdistances 

  • Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule orroutine 

  • Do not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish aday’s workin a timelymanner
