Azure Architect

We are seeking an experienced Azure Architect to lead the Azure component of a multifaceted project that spans multiple platforms and disciplines, directing integration architecture for enterprise observability, ITSM, monitoring, and developer portal systems.

Responsibilities

• Define the integration architecture — covering API contracts, data models, authentication patterns, and event flows — connecting Backstage to enterprise observability, ITSM, and monitoring platforms
• Deliver monitoring integration capabilities by embedding dashboards such as Grafana/LGTM into each catalog entity, addressing entity-to-dashboard mapping and authentication passthrough
• Design the ArgoCD integration, including plugin integration, API authentication, entity-annotation mapping, and RBAC projection, to provide deployment-status visibility inside the developer portal
• Handle the announcements and notifications integration, including configuring upstream plugins, setting up notification channels such as email and Teams webhooks, and managing publisher RBAC to enable platform-wide communication
• Configure databases visibility integration using read-only metadata collectors for Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Postgres, along with a search integration leveraging Elasticsearch/pgsearch backend and catalog/TechDocs indexers
• Develop the SDD document generation capability, defining how architecture documentation is produced from repository/catalog metadata and infrastructure-as-code module outputs, triggered via Backstage actions/templates
• Produce dashboards, reporting, and enterprise-integration views across Backstage, infrastructure, and integration workstreams to ensure consistent, permission-aware display of service health and dependency information
• Partner closely with the Backstage Architect to align plugins and data models, and coordinate with the Azure and VMware Architects to ensure infrastructure telemetry and metadata surface properly within the portal
• Drive integration-architecture governance throughout implementation, validate end-to-end service visibility, and support monitoring, reconciliation, and documentation-generation processes during rollout

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience architecting system integrations involving Azure and Azure DevOps
• Expertise in Azure/Entra authentication mechanisms
• Background in integrating cloud database platforms — Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Postgres — for read-only metadata and observability needs
• Showcase of leading projects with intricate architectures spanning Azure-based services and third-party platform integrations such as VMware and networking devices
• Proficiency in building automated documentation-generation pipelines sourced from structured metadata
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

• Background in integrating infrastructure management platforms built on Backstage or similar frameworks
• Understanding of notification and communication integration tools
