GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Housekeeper I - Relief provides a clean, attractive, and sanitary health care environment for both external and internal customers of the organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of patient rooms, hallways, bathrooms, and common areas according to established health care standards and infection control protocols.
- Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning machinery, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
- Stock and restock supplies in patient rooms, bathrooms, and designated storage areas, maintaining adequate inventory levels.
- Dispose of waste materials, including biohazardous waste, in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform floor care duties, including sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing to maintain appearance and safety standards.
- Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards to supervisory staff in a timely manner.
- Respond to relief and on-call scheduling requirements with flexibility and reliability.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with patients, visitors, and staff members.
- Follow all organizational safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and health care regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- One to two (1-2) years of experience in housekeeping, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and biohazard waste disposal procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain housekeeping equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining sanitation and safety standards.
- Ability to work flexible and on-call schedules with reliability and responsiveness.
- Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff members.
- Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 50 pounds, and work for extended periods while standing.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and organizational safety procedures is a plus.
