Job Description
The RS Cabinet Maker IV fabricates complex, high-quality cabinets, furniture, and wood-surfaced subassemblies for aircraft installation. The position works under general supervision and may provide guidance, training, and project support to less-experienced technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate complex cabinets, furniture, and wood-surfaced aircraft components.
- Operate stationary and handheld woodworking tools safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and design requirements.
- Ensure finished products meet quality and customer-approved design requirements.
- Apply advanced cabinetmaking processes and woodworking techniques.
- Follow safety, 5S, housekeeping, and aircraft-interior protection procedures.
- Support Lean/Six Sigma and process-improvement initiatives.
- Use material-tracking systems to create parts demand, track squawks, and complete work sign-offs.
- Mentor and train lower-skilled technicians when required.
- Take on Lead responsibilities and coordinate assigned projects/tasks when needed.
- Assist with safety audits and shop equipment maintenance.
- Adapt to changing production schedules and coordinate with other backshops.
Required Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum4 years of cabinetmaking experience.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products.
- Strong ability to read engineering/design drawings and material specifications.
- Experience using stationary and handheld woodworking tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small or restricted areas.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to work the assigned shift.
- Aerospace industry experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications is preferred.
