The primary responsibility of this position is partnering with our instruments operations leaders and providing strategic sourcing expertise to our global procurement teams.
Reporting to the Sr. Director Strategic Sourcing, this role will focus on developing strategic alliances with existing suppliers, identifying new suppliers, driving supplier performance and cultivating redundancy and resiliency across our instrument supply chain. The Director position is a lead member of the instruments operations staff and represents a senior-level sourcing partner with a primary focus on materials for life science and diagnostic instruments, responsible for ~$150M in spend.
The role is part of the Global Operations Leadership team and key contributor in the transformation of the organization towards world-class safeguarding of a market-leading performance position at competitive costs for respective material fields, derived from business requirements and overarching SCM Strategy – to generate an optimized contribution to business performance.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Strong Negotiation skills: Lead complex, multi-faceted pricing and contract negotiations focus on price productivity, cash flow terms optimization, inventory management, supply assurance, quality and delivery.
- Sourcing and Procurement Process: Develop, implement, and execute procurement strategy, process, and policies.
- Cost Savings : Identify Total Cost of Ownership opportunities and execute negotiations, projects, and sourcing activities to deliver continuous cost savings.
- Supply Assurance. Responsible for supply chain resilience of instruments for revenue protection.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic suppliers through performance management, regular business reviews, and KPI-based assessments covering quality, delivery, cost competitiveness, technology, and supply chain performance.
- Risk Management. Defining concepts for risk and contract management and driving activities which include risk reduction, implementation of alternative sources
- New Product Introduction. Partnering with R&D and manufacturing to support projects from pilot development through full-scale manufacturing in both regulated and non-regulated production facilities
- Data Analysis. Compiles spend data by site, supplier and technology and recommends ways to maximize or optimize spend.
- Technical Acumen. Maintaining a deep understanding of assigned commodity and the validation plans to evaluation alternative vendors and materials.
- Ensure sourcing activities and supplier practices comply with applicable quality, regulatory, safety, and company requirements (ISO / regulatory / nfederal safety standards)
- Lead, develop, and coach sourcing team members while establishing clear objectives, performance metrics, and accountability for business results.

Basic Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in direct sourcing within instrument manufacturing industries. Experience in Life Sciences and Diagnostics is preferred.
- Proven track-record in leading a strategic procurement function in a global environment. Direct spend experience preferred.
- At least 5 years of functional and disciplinary leadership responsibility.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
- This position will collaborate with stakeholders globally and may be required to support projects/priorities/meetings during non-standard working hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated general management ability to lead a global organization
- Proven track record in creating and enhancing effective commodity teams to drive strategic initiatives.
- Commodity experience and demonstrated success drivingcost reduction through global supply chain
- Ability to multi-task, respond to tight deadlines and provide quick turn-around times.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain / Operations Management or equivalent experience required, with master’s degree preferred.
