Te tÅ«ranga ā The role
We have a fixed-term opportunity, providing specialist expertise in econometrics within the RBNZ model development team.
As Senior Analyst ā Model Development you will contribute to an upgrade of our core economic model to meet the evolving needs of the Economics Directorate and the Monetary Policy Committee.
In this role you will:
Provide strong expertise in time-series econometrics and macroeconomics to our model upgrade
Contribute to model design and development, ensuring that the core model is fit-for-purpose for policymakers and consistent with historical empirical relationships in New Zealand
Work closely with users of our core model to support model development, implementation and use within the policy process
Collaborate effectively within a small project team
This is a fixed term role through to June 2029.

You are passionate about the contribution you can make to New Zealandās economic wellbeing. You bring technical expertise and the desire to contribute to the development of our modelling capability and support effective monetary policy for all New Zealanders.
You will also bring:Ā
A postgraduate degree in economics, focused on time series econometrics
Experience in research or modelling in policy institutions or in academia on policy-relevant issues
The ability to effectively collaborate, build relationships and communicate with stakeholders
Intellectual curiosity and drive to find answers
