About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-regarded law firm in Toronto seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their Labour & Employment practice group. This is a confidential search for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and brings a solid foundation in employment law support.


The Role

As a Labour & Employment Legal Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to a team of lawyers handling both management-side and employee-side matters. You will play a key role in managing files, coordinating communications, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the practice group.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, briefs, and agreements

  • Manage and organize legal files from opening to closing, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records

  • Draft and file documents with the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB), Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), and other administrative tribunals

  • Coordinate and calendar deadlines, hearings, discoveries, and client meetings

  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and tribunal staff in a professional manner

  • Assist with preparation of hearing binders, books of authorities, and evidence packages

  • Conduct general legal research and administrative tasks as required

  • Process and track accounts, dockets, and billing


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a Labour & Employment practice (law firm or in-house)

  • Post-secondary education in Legal Administration or a related field

  • Familiarity with Ontario employment and labour law proceedings and relevant tribunals (OLRB, HRTO, arbitration)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal practice management software (e.g., PCLaw, Soluno, or similar) is an asset

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential matters


Compensation & Details

  • Salary: $60,000 – $75,000, commensurate with experience

  • Location: Toronto, ON (hybrid)

  • Full-time, permanent position
