About the Company

The client is a custom metal fabrication shop based in Buffalo, New York, specializing instructural fabrication and wastewater treatment projects.

The company operates with a lean, growing team and currently has one senior estimator handling a high volume of work. They are looking for an experienced Estimator to expand quoting capacity and work closely with the senior estimator as project volume continues to increase.

Job Summary

We are seeking aStructural Fabrication Estimator with hands-on experience estimating structural metal fabrication projects.

You will be responsible for performing detailed takeoffs, preparing bids, reviewing project requirements, coordinating with vendors and clients, and supporting pre-construction activities.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, accurate, and comfortable handling multiple projects while working independently within a remote environment. You will collaborate directly with the senior estimator to ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and complete.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailedmaterial and quantity takeoffs for structural metal fabrication projects

  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine project scope

  • Prepare accuratebids, estimates, and pricing proposals

  • Analyze material, labor, fabrication, and project costs

  • Preparesubmittals, revisions, and RFI responses

  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients regarding project requirements and pricing

  • Communicate directly with vendors and clients by phone when necessary

  • Supportpre-construction activities and subcontractor coordination

  • Manage multiple estimates and project deadlines simultaneously

  • Work within the client's internaljob tracking and AI-powered quoting system

  • Collaborate remotely with Mark VeRost and the senior estimator to review estimates and improve accuracy

  • Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and potential cost risks before bids are submitted

  • Maintain organized estimating documentation and project records

  • Adapt to client-specific processes, systems, and software

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of structural fabrication estimating experience

  • Strong experience withtakeoffs, bid preparation, and cost estimation

  • Background in structural steel, custom metal fabrication, or related heavy fabrication

  • Strong attention to detail and a proven focus on estimate accuracy

  • Fluent English, bothwritten and verbal

  • Strong communication and coordination skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Reliable full-time availability for40 hours/week

  • Comfortable working with remote client systems and software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience withwastewater treatment projects

  • Experience estimatingskids, heavy structural projects, or complex custom fabrication

  • Experience with structural steel or miscellaneous metals

  • Experience working onUS-based construction or fabrication projects

  • Civil Engineering degree or equivalent technical/trade experience

  • Experience with:

    • PlanSwift

    • Bluebeam

    • Procore

    • Other estimating, takeoff, or construction management platforms

  • Previous experience working remotely or with distributed teams

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail oncomplex structural fabrication estimates

  • Experience estimating different project types, includingwastewater treatment, structural steel, and custom fabrication

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates without sacrificing accuracy

  • Strong understanding of fabrication materials, labor, processes, and associated costs

  • Portfolio or examples of previous structural fabrication estimates

  • Experience working independently in a remote environment

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new estimating and quoting systems
