Speech Language Pathologist - Education Services

Position Summary:   

Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs)evaluatespeech,languageand/or feedingneeds of andprovidedirectservicesschool-agestudents. Implements comprehensive, evidence-based treatments andestablishes, documents and assessing progress related to therapeutic goals. Mayprovide clinical supervision to clinical fellows and graduate students.   

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Provides intensive speech andlanguage,feeding and/or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)services andtherapytoassigned caseload consistent withstudents’ documented therapy goals, including those defined inareas of instructional and therapeutic focus and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP). 

• Develops and implements safe andappropriate therapeutic interventions;assists in development of feedingand meal-timeplans, as needed. 

• Assesses and develops therapeutic plans that address the communication, AAC, oral motor, and feeding needs of students based on their individual strengths and challenges.   

• Evaluates, documentsand monitorstreatment andprogress insession notes, progressreports and evaluations in a timely manner. 

• Completes evaluations and assessments of students,establishing and updatingtherapeutic goals and/or IndividualizedEducationPlans (IEPs) as needed.    

• Communicates and collaborates with parentsregularlyandwithmedical professionals as needed, specifically as theyimpact upon the student’s educational plan, therapeutic goals and/or feedingor interventionplans.    

• Collaborates withadministrators,teachers and other related service providers within the school setting to ensure that a comprehensive educational plan is in place to meeteachstudents’ individual needs.   

• Mayprovidecoverageas a substitute teacherfor school-related activities and/or lessons, as needed. 

• Maymonitor and screen hearing status and make referrals, as needed. 

• Mayassist with documenting medical necessity for AAC devices and work with providers or parents tofacilitate authorizations, as needed.   

• Performs all other duties, as assigned.  

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Valid license and current registration as a Speech Language Pathologistissued by the NYS Department of Education (NYSED);and  

• Current certification and registration as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD), issued by the New York State Education Department;and 

• Strong interpersonal skills.   

• Strong writing andorganizations skills.   

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Word and PowerPoint. 

Preferred Qualification Requirements

Compensation Range:

$75,000 to $88,000 per year
