GENERAL FUNCTION:
Performs a wide range of duties relating to the origination of residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals. Meets standards andobjectives defined by management for mortgage loan salesOne Bankobjectives. Assumes overall responsibility for the residentialmortgage loan from application to closing.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies andprocedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviorsdrive a positive customer experience. Whileoperating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistentlyidentifying, assessing,
managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with sales leadership and assigned Senior Loan Originator to develop both internal and external referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional, COIs and personal).
Works with sales leadership and assigned Senior Loan Originator to learnand master all aspects and components of the mortgage loan originator position.
This would include, but not limited to, agency and portfolio guidelines, processing, underwriting, closing, and pricing procedures.
Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies andprocedures,available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guidelines.Completes all required training on time.
Follow defined protocol for escalationunderwriting and pricingexceptions.
Take applications by completingURLA on laptop.
Utilizeavailable technology and support for communication and access of daily rates, applicant credit reports, origination of loan files and uploading of files to operations.
Collectappropriate documentation from applicant(s) and deliver loanpackage in thetime frames set by management.
Work with sales leadership and assigned Senior Loan Originator to managepipeline for all originated loans through closing.
Communicateappropriately andtimely withbranches and/or applicants providing updates andstatus reports.
Maintainhigh levels of customer service while managing each applicant's andFifth Third expectations.
Attend andparticipate inall Mortgage andConsumer Lendingsalesmeetings, callsandtraining as required by management.
Collect application fees on loan applications per policy.
Participate in One Bank makingappropriate referrals to other lines of business.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent mandatory. Four-year college degree preferred.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
Ability tomaintainan intense optimism and focus on achieving goals even under adversity.
Proven computer skills.
Basic sales technique skills.
Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). The NMLS web site mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registrationrequired for employment in this position.

Compensation for this position is largely incentive-based. Incentive compensation is combined with either a base salary or a draw to determine total cash compensation, and incentive compensation is based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
