Position Overview

A growingMEP & Fire Protection engineering firm is seeking a motivatedMechanical Engineer / Mechanical Designer to join our team.

This position will support the design and development of mechanical systems for commercial building projects. We are open toMechanical Designers, Engineers-in-Training (EITs), and Mechanical Engineers who are looking to expand their technical skills and grow into greater project responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial building projects.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Size and design ductwork and air distribution systems.
  • Select HVAC equipment, including RTUs, split systems, exhaust fans, and related equipment.
  • Prepare mechanical plans, schedules, details, and construction documents.
  • Develop designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and fire protection disciplines.
  • Assist with energy code and mechanical code compliance.
  • Respond to plan review comments, RFIs, submittals, and construction questions.
  • Participate in existing-condition site surveys as needed.
  • Support renovation, tenant improvement, and new construction projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree inMechanical Engineering preferred for engineering candidates.
  • Relevant mechanical drafting/design experience may be considered for Mechanical Designer candidates.
  • Commercial HVAC or MEP design experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, or similar HVAC load calculation software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IMC, IECC, ASHRAE standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering construction documents.
  • Strong technical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • EIT certification is a plus but not required.
  • PE license is a plus for experienced candidates but is not required.
