Performs selected and delegated nursing tasks in the care of patients. Completes patient physical assessment. Performs and/or delegates patient treatments as ordered by Provider and participates in education plan for patient/family.

Job Description

I. MajorResponsibilities:  

1. Assesses and obtain apatients basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.  

2. Administers medications, performs treatmentas ordered, andoperates equipment according to policy and procedure. 

3. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.  

4. Participates in implementation and evaluation of careplan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions, and teaching. 

5. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reportsobserved symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition toProvider and/or RN andassists in analyzing and interpreting patient data. 

6.Assists provider with treatments, procedures, and special tests asrequired or directed.  

7. Communicates with patients via electronic, telephonic, and in person, per scope of practice. 

8. Collaborates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. 

9. Maintains a safe environment. 

 

Standard Staffing LevelResponsibilities:   

1. Complies with established departmentalpolicies, procedures. 

2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars asrequired or directed. 

3. Participatesinuseof Quality Improvement in daily operations. 

4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements. 

5. Respects diverse views and approaches,demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating andmaintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees,patients and visitors. 

6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance. 

7. Performs other similar and related duties asrequired or directed. 

 

All responsibilities are essential job functions. 

 

II. Position Qualifications: 

License/Certification/Education: 

Required: 

1. Completion of an accredited practicalnursing program.   

2. Current Massachusetts licensurerequired.  

3. Basic Life Support (BLS)certification. 

 

Experience/Skills: 

Required: 

1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.   

2. Strong interpersonal skills arerequired to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients. 

Unless certification, licensure or registration isrequired, an equivalent combination of education and experience which providesproficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements. 

 

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed andmaintained in the individual departments. The competencies will bemaintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents. 

 

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions: 

Must be able tolift, up to 50 pounds. Work isof heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
