Altom Transport is looking for ahands-on Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance operations of ourClass 8 tanker fleet at our Chicagoland terminal.
This role is ideal for someone who hasgrown through the diesel shop ranks and understands the importance ofuptime, preventative maintenance, and keeping trucks safe on the road.

What You’ll Do
This is aworking leadership role responsible for keeping our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
Fleet & Shop Leadership
- Lead and supervise mechanics maintainingClass 8 tractors and tanker trailers
- Promote and enforcesafe shop practices
- Conductregular safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Recruit, train, and evaluate shop personnel
- Foster strongteam morale and accountability
Maintenance Operations
- Manage and trackpreventative maintenance schedules
- Plan and prioritize repairs to meetoperational needs
- Assist withcomplex diagnostics and repairs
- Performquality checks and audits on completed work
- Determine when repairs should becompleted in-house or outsourced
Fleet Performance
- Conduct regularyard checks to ensure asset availability
- Manage repair orders inTMT maintenance system
- Track PM compliance and notify dispatch and drivers
- Work closely withparts vendors to control costs and inventory
Daily Operations
- Respond quickly tobreakdowns and service calls
- Maintain propertool safety and shop organization
- Ensure company equipment appearance standards are upheld
What We’re Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Supervisory experience in a diesel shop or fleet environment
- Basic tools for maintainingClass 8 equipment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of heavy truck maintenance operations
Preferred
- 3+ years fleet maintenance leadership
- Trucking or tanker industry experience
- Hands-on experience withheavy diesel equipment
- Familiarity withTransman, McLeod, or similar systems
- CDL is a plus
