Family Law Paralegal - full time or part time
We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support a U.S. law firm handling divorce, custody, child support, alimony, paternity, and related family law matters.
This is a fully remote role for a legal professional with strong litigation experience, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to manage emotionally sensitive matters with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys with divorce, custody, child support, alimony, paternity, and other family law matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, petitions, notices, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
- Assist with preparation of financial affidavits, mandatory disclosures, asset and liability schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Organize and review financial records, including bank statements, tax returns, pay records, business records, and property documents.
- Manage discovery, document collection, review, organization, and production.
- Prepare hearing, mediation, deposition, and trial materials.
- Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, conferences, and other case events.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, collect documents, provide updates, and coordinate next steps.
- Communicate with opposing counsel, courts, experts, mediators, and other parties.
- Track court deadlines, discovery deadlines, hearing dates, and case milestones.
- Prepare and submit court filings through applicable electronic filing systems.
- Maintain accurate and organized digital case files.
- Assist attorneys with legal and factual research related to family law matters.
- Prepare case summaries, chronologies, exhibits, and supporting documentation.
- Follow firm procedures and maintain strict confidentiality.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Paralegal, Lawyer, or Attorney.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as a family law paralegal for a law firm in the United States.
- Strong hands-on experience with U.S. family law matters.
- Experience supporting divorce, custody, child support, alimony, paternity, or related cases.
- Experience drafting family law pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence.
- Experience reviewing and organizing financial records and mandatory disclosure documents.
- Strong understanding of litigation deadlines and family court procedures.
- Experience preparing matters for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials.
- Experience working directly with U.S. attorneys and clients.
- Strong legal drafting and document preparation skills.
- Experience with legal case management software and electronic court filing systems.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 or comparable cloud-based business tools.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients involved in sensitive or high-conflict matters.
