Canvas Offices creates characterful, design-led flexible workspaces across London. Our Property Development team manages the design, development and evolution of our portfolio, and we're building a long-term relationship with a freelance CAD technician to support us with ad-hoc space-planning requests and layout changes.

About the role

Most requests are small, well-defined jobs on existing measured-survey DWGs, already set up to our drawing and brand standards, with a clear brief and access to our team for questions. Typical jobs take one to three hours. This isn't just about drawing what's asked — you'll assess whether a layout actually works and flag anything that doesn't.

•Testing furniture layouts, desk capacities and meeting room configurations

•Assessing partition changes and whether a client's requested layout is feasible

•Considering circulation, accessibility, clearances, capacity and user experience, and flagging (not resolving) any power, data, lighting, HVAC or MEP implications

•Delivering an updated DWG and PDF, plus a clear note on any concerns, assumptions or feasibility issues

Most jobs carry a two-working-day turnaround from brief to delivery, so responsiveness matters — we need someone who can acknowledge new requests promptly. You're welcome to decline individual jobs when your workload doesn't allow, and to flag ahead of time when you're unavailable.

About you

•Strong 2D AutoCAD skills and good technical drawing standards

•Good spatial awareness and an understanding of space planning

•Confident questioning a brief rather than simply reproducing it, with a basic awareness of how layout changes affect MEP, access and circulation

•Clear written communication, strong time management and reliability

•Based in or near London, with the flexibility to take on short-turnaround jobs regularly

This could suit a junior CAD technician, interior designer or architectural technician building an ongoing freelance relationship alongside other work — strong fundamentals matter more to us than years of experience.

What we offer

•An ongoing relationship, not a one-off brief — we'd rather work with one freelancer regularly than a different one each time

•Training on our drawing standards, workplace planning principles, furniture and brand standards

•Remote-first work, with occasional site visits where it helps

•Room to grow into larger renovation, test-fit and drawing projects over time

•Around six space-planning requests a month, with no guaranteed minimum hours
