Job Description Summary 

The APRNis responsible for assessing physical and psychosocial status ofpatientsby means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies atJackson Memorial Hospital as part of theinpatient General and Transplant Hepatology consult service.Assist physicians in performing medical procedures, up to and including vital signs and nursing assessments, history and physical. 

Job Description 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort): 

• Perform consults and daily follow-up progress notes 

• Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up 

• Writes prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge carein accordance with written practice protocols 

• Initiates andfacilitates clinical research protocols and coordinates patient care with research staff 

• Obtains complete medical history independent of supervision by the physician 

• Ordersappropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelines 

• Develops,implements and evaluates a plan of care that isappropriate for the patient and family 

• Activelyparticipates in quality assurance programs and peer review activities 

• Responsible forproviding assistance to physicians in the care and treatment of patients 

• Provides medical support to staff, triaging and implementing care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, asevidenced by team feedback and documentation in medical records 

• Administers nursing assessments to include performing examinations, givinginjections and assessing a patient's health status 

• Assess severity of patient's condition,determining and directing patients to appropriate medical providers

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ensuring compliance with local,state and federal health regulations 

• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques 

• Performs in tactful and professional manner 

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements): 

• Master’s Degree in Advanced Registered Nursing 

• Current licensure to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida 

• Must be credentialed to practice by Hospital Medical Board 

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements): 

• One year
