We are looking for a bold and visionary State Program Director to lead a powerhouse team in Michigan! In this role, youâll set the vision and drive the program strategy across the stateâmobilizing, engaging, and expanding womenâs civic and political participation.Â

This role oversees a team of five, directly supervises the Deputy Program Director, reports to the Head of States Program and is a full-time position based out of your home office in the state of Michigan. Frequent in-state travel may be required to attend meetings and events and occasional out-of-state travel is required for in-person meetings and all-staff gatherings.Â
WHAT YOUâLL DO:Â
âLead Vision & Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans for relational organizing initiatives that align with the organizationâs mission and broader goals.Â
âEmpower & Manage Team: Mentor, coach, and empower the organizing team and directly manage the Deputy Program Director, who is responsible for supervising four year-round organizers, ensuring effective execution of state-focused programs and initiatives.Â
âBuild Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain relationships with community leaders and partner organizations to increase RWBâs impact and amplify RWBâs brand.Â
âDrive Community Engagement: Design and oversee the implementation of campaigns that mobilize suburban women through our engagement model along with diverse and creative outreach strategies.Â
â Manage Resources:Ensure efficient allocation of resources for maximum program impact.
- Leverage Data to Optimize Impact: Implement data-driven evaluation methods to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. Empower the organizing team to make informed, strategic decisions.Â
â Champion Diversity & Inclusion:Foster a culture of equity and inclusion both within the organization and through community engagement efforts.Â
âInspire & Collaborate: Create a strong, supportive team environment with open communication and seamless collaboration across departments.Â
âMaximize Digital Influence: Utilize social media to engage, persuade, and inform audiences on key issues and initiatives.Â
âServe as a Statewide Voice: Work with the Comms & Media team to represent the organization in the media, amplifying the concerns and perspectives of suburban women in Michigan. Act as a key Red Wine & Blue representative with partners, coalitions, and stakeholders, ensuring our mission and values are effectively communicated and aligned with broader advocacy efforts.Â
âLead Hiring & Team Growth: Act as the final decision-maker for hiring within the state organizing team, ensuring a strong and dynamic staff.Â

WHAT YOU BRING:Â
âLeadership & Program Management: A proven track record in leadership roles, particularly in program management, community engagement, or political advocacy. You have experience planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that drive impact.Â
âTeam Development: Strong ability to lead, mentor, and support a team, including people managers, ensuring they have the guidance and resources to succeed. You excel at effective delegation and fostering a team culture of distributed leadership, empowering team members to take ownership, make decisions and contribute to the organization's success.Â

âData-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in using data to inform strategy, track outcomes, and assess program effectiveness. Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is preferred, with Every Action CRM experience highly desired.Â
âCommunity Organizing Expertise:A deep understanding of grassroots mobilization, coalition building, and advocacy strategies to engage and activate communities.Â
âResource Management:Experience allocating resources effectively to ensure program sustainability and impact.Â
âPolicy & Advocacy Knowledge: Familiarity with policy development, legislative processes, and advocacy work, with the ability to navigate Michigan's political landscape.Â

âCompetitive Pay & Benefits:The salary for this position is $80,000 - $87,000 and is commensurate with related experience.We take pay equity seriously and work hard to ensure our team members are paid fairly regardless of their gender, race, or other demographic backgrounds. In addition to a competitive salary, we cover 80% of employee medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums and offer an employer 401(k) match, with eligibility starting after 90 days of employment. We are a mom-led, family-friendly organization that also covers approximately 70% of dependent premiums and allows for a flexible work schedule.Â
