The Head of Controlling is responsible for overseeing financial planning, analysis, accounting, and reporting for the Canadian business. This role serves as a key strategic finance partner to Red Bull Canada's Leadership Team (LT) and acts as the finance lead for major business initiatives. The Head of Controlling leads the team responsible for overseeing RBCA and RBCD's financial performance, including budgeting, cost analysis, forecasting, financial reporting, and performance measurement. This role is accountable for the integrity of the P&L and balance sheet for both RBCA and RBCD, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to the CFO while providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Leading a team of 8+ finance professionals, this position is accountable for the financial planning and management of key business functions, including Marketing, Sales, Operations, Indirects, and Red Bull Canada Distribution (RBCD). The successful candidate will thrive in a complex matrix organization and play a critical role in strategic resource allocation, business performance optimization, financial modeling, process improvement initiatives, and supporting key commercial and vendor negotiations.
BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
Serve as a strategic finance partner to the Canadian Leadership Team by providing financial insights, budget reallocation recommendations, and scenario modeling to support business decisions.
Lead the financial planning process for a CAD business, coordinating cross-functional budgeting across profit centers and departments.
Ensure all budget owners submit departmental budgets accurately and on time while providing constructive challenge and guidance to validate financial assumptions and recommendations.
Develop financial models, business cases, and scenario analyses to assess business impacts and support year-to-go forecasting.
Partner closely with the CFO to support strategic financial planning and executive decision-making.
Continuously evaluate the Controlling team's structure and business partnerships to ensure strategic alignment, operational effectiveness, and ongoing value creation.
REPORTING AND ANALYSIS
Lead financial analysis, business case development, scenario modeling, monthly performance reviews, and value chain analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
Analyze product mix performance and evaluate the effectiveness of Trade and Marketing investments to maximize ROI through strategic resource allocation.
Lead pricing and promotional analysis by evaluating promotional effectiveness, pricing strategies, and value chain performance while providing recommendations to Sales and Category teams.
Develop and deliver financial reporting tailored to both Finance and field teams, enhancing financial acumen through actionable reporting, training, and consultative support.
Identify, assess, and proactively manage financial risks by monitoring monthly trends and recommending appropriate management actions.
Translate complex financial data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights for Sales and business leaders.
Ensure the Controlling team consistently adheres to internal controls, accounting standards, and all internal and external financial compliance requirements.
Collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other business functions.
PLANNING AND FORECASTING
Lead the timely preparation and submission of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow plans and forecasts.
Consolidate departmental budgets into a comprehensive company-wide financial plan.
Develop accurate year-to-go forecasts and recommend actions to mitigate financial risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Perform ongoing value chain analysis to improve business performance and profitability.
MONTH END CLOSING
Oversee month-end close activities for the P&L and balance sheet, including intercompany transactions.
Coordinate the monthly accrual process in partnership with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure accurate expense recognition.
Ensure the integrity of master data by validating customer, product, and internal order hierarchies while providing monthly financial statement commentary to RBCA and RBCD.
Verify proper accounting cut-offs and compliance with expense recognition policies.
Monitor budget risks through the monthly accrual process and recommend corrective actions where required.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data across SAP, Hyperion, BI platforms, and other financial reporting systems.
LEADERSHIP
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 8+ finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching and development, and support career growth across the team.
Provide strategic direction and serve as the final approver for key financial analyses, reports, forecasts, and planning deliverables.
Build strong cross-functional partnerships to drive financial discipline, business performance, and organizational success.
8+ years of experience in financial analysis or controlling, preferably within the consumer goods or retail industry.
Proven experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
Experience working within a matrix organization and driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Demonstrated success in strategic financial planning, risk management, and resource allocation.
Experience in a large public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) is an asset.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, and advanced functions).
Proficiency with financial systems such as SAP, Hyperion, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Strong expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
Experience conducting profitability analysis and evaluating business performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information and insights to senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and non-financial stakeholders.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Distribution, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to lead a high-performing Controlling team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and a proactive work environment.
Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
CPA designation is preferred.
MBA is preferred.
The expected annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000. The actual base salary for this position will depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of Red Bull’s bonus plan.
