Job Summary:

Real Chemistry is looking for an Account Manager, Advocacy & Patient Engagement to join our growing team!

This client-facing role is ideal for a highly organized healthcare communications professional who is ready to help deliver meaningful advocacy and patient engagement programs across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and health technology clients. The Account Manager will support the development and execution of integrated advocacy programs, manage day-to-day client and stakeholder activity, contribute to high-quality materials and scopes, and help ensure work is delivered on time, on budget and to Real Chemistry standards.

This role can be remote within the United States or based in any of our U.S. office locations, including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Lambertville, NJ, San Francisco, or Carmel, IN.

What you’ll do:

Advocacy & Patient Engagement Delivery

  • Support the development and execution of advocacy and patient engagement strategies aligned to brand, policy, access, and disease-area objectives.
  • Contribute to authentic, ethical and compliant engagement with patient advocacy organizations, coalitions and community leaders.
  • Help design and deliver patient-centric programs, including education, awareness, policy engagement, advisory boards, summits, co-creation sessions, and community-based initiatives.
  • Support stakeholder mapping, engagement prioritization and long-term relationship-building approaches, particularly within the US advocacy ecosystem.
  • Apply a strong understanding of patient and advocacy dynamics to develop clear recommendations, materials and client-facing outputs.

Client Service & Account Management

  • Provide exceptional client service and account management support across multiple client accounts and workstreams.
  • Act as a trusted day-to-day client contact for planned activities, ad hoc requests, project updates and delivery of materials.
  • Run client calls and meetings independently when appropriate, including preparing agendas, capturing clear contact reports and driving follow-up actions.
  • Gather, interpret and address client feedback across deliverables, escalating risks or sensitivities as needed.
  • Communicate project updates, scopes, recommendations and next steps clearly to clients and internal teams.

Project Execution & Operations

  • Drive flawless and timely project execution in partnership with account, project management, creative, digital, analytics, policy and communications teams.
  • Document status, risks, decisions and need-to-know information so all stakeholders remain aligned and work progresses along the critical path.
  • Manage timelines, quality control, resourcing inputs and work-flow across day-to-day program activity.
  • Support account development, fiscal performance and responsible growth by tracking budgets, raising invoices and purchase orders, and flagging budget considerations early.
  • Ensure programs are delivered efficiently, compliantly and to Real Chemistry standards.

Content, Materials & New Business Support

  • Develop strong first drafts of scopes of work, contracts, presentations, creative briefs, discussion guides, PR and marketing materials, and internal or external communications.
  • Translate advocacy, patient and stakeholder insights into practical materials that support client decision-making and program delivery.
  • Participate in the development of client marketing, advocacy, engagement, and communications strategies and tactics.
  • Support new business development, pitches and proposals, particularly where patient, advocacy, policy or stakeholder engagement expertise is required.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve or expand client programs across advocacy, policy, communications, and engagement.

Team Contribution & People Development

  • Collaborate effectively with junior colleagues, peers and senior leaders, helping to create a high-performing team culture rooted in empathy, rigor and accountability.
  • Mentor junior team members, delegate appropriately and help build advocacy expertise, delivery excellence and confidence across the team.
  • Manage upward proactively, communicating early when deadlines, risks or issues are foreseeable and proposing practical solutions.

What you should have:

  • Typically 2+ years’ experience in healthcare communications, advocacy, public affairs, patient engagement, client service or a related agency environment.
  • Experience working with, or supporting programs involving, patient advocacy organizations, patient communities, NGOs, coalitions or healthcare stakeholders; US advocacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare client service and the ability to manage multiple workstreams, materials and deadlines with close attention to detail.
  • Track record of following through on client requests and delivering high-quality work on schedule and on budget.
  • Independent thinker who is confident taking ownership of assets and material development, while thriving as a collaborative team player.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including formal and informal presentations and confident participation in client-facing conversations.
  • Ability to draft clear project scopes, client and vendor contracts, presentations, briefs, communications materials and recommendations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable conducting research, monitoring relevant media or landscape developments, and contributing to insight-led client recommendations with limited supervision.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff, delegate appropriately and help drive work forward against project deadlines.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience required.

 

Pay Range: $60,000-$73,000
The anticipated salary range for this position is listed above. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, and internal parity.
