Compensation Range

Hourly: $20.00 - $20.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

Commerce’s Legal Department is hiring an intern for Summer 2027 to learn more about the in-house legal work we do within Commerce Bank. You will support the Legal team in various project work, research, drafting, and shadowing opportunities across a range of legal topics. You will also have an opportunity to meet other interns through participation in Commerce’s Internship Program. The summer internship session will begin onTuesday, May 18, 2027, and will run for11 weeks, ending onFriday, July 30, 2027. Internships arepaid, full-time opportunities with aMonday through Friday work schedule.

EssentialFunctions

  • Perform legal research and draft memorandum on a wide range of topics, including, banking, information technology, employment, and corporate governance

  • Review and summarize regulatory updates andguidance

  • Review department procedures and analyze for processimprovements

  • Develop and implement procedural updates, asnecessary

  • Participate in meetings with CBI Legal and businessstakeholders

  • Review, draft and edit contract and other agreementtemplates

  • Review CBI IntellectualProperty

  • Work with supervising attorneys supporting a variety of Bank lines ofbusiness

  • Report regularly on projectprogress

  • Capstone project and end of summer presentation with other interns in the Commerce Internship Program

  • Perform other duties asassigned

  • Monday- Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Ability to conduct thorough and accurate legal research using various resources, including statutes and regulations

  • Curious by nature

  • Critical thinker with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to maintain strictconfidentiality

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain adaptable andresilient

  • Motivated and organized self-starter who can work independently

  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, andOutlook.

Education &Experience

  • Currently enrolled law student in accredited degree program
