Responsibilities:Â
Partners with Operations to resolve issues surrounding unbilled claims, authorizations, Physician Certification Statements (PCSs), Patient Care Reports (PCRs), and insurance, and demographic capture issuesÂ
Effectively code and bill ambulance transportation claimsÂ
Responsible for escalating concernsregarding questionable paperwork toappropriate managementÂ
Contact payers to verify claim status via phone or web and follow up on unpaid claimsÂ
Process appeals on aged insurance claims/denialsÂ
Ability to analyze,identify and resolve issues which may cause payer payment delaysÂ
Identify and resolve claim edits through understanding of billing guidelines and payer requirementsÂ
Reconcile commercial and government accounts, ensuring CPT and diagnostic codes areaccurateÂ
Interpret terms for Managed Care, Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and Workers' Compensation and No Fault when applicableÂ
Review all EOBs for correct payment, deductible, adjustments, and denialsÂ
Determining the status of claims with the insurance company, if the claim meets contractual agreements or needs adjustmentÂ
Reconcile account balances, and verify payments are applied correctlyÂ
Maintain well aged accounts, promptly resolve, and resubmit denied unpaid claims ina timely and efficient mannerÂ
Follow up on appeals/correctedsubmitted claimsÂ
Review and correct billing errors, which require a strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codingÂ
Review and audit customer service account inquiriesÂ
Receive inbound/outbound customer service callÂ
Perform internal recovery calls and manage well aged self-pay accountsÂ
Provide excellent customer service to all patients, Insurances & FacilitiesÂ
Review and correct all rejections in clearing houseÂ
Perform all other related duties as assignedÂ
Qualifications:Â
Medical billing experiencepreferred, but notrequired
Ambulance billing experience (preferred)Â
Extensive Medicare and Medicaid experience and understanding medical necessity in ambulance transportationÂ
Proficient in CPT and ICD-10 codingÂ
Ambulance/Medical billing certification or diploma preferredÂ
Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) certificationrequired within30 days of employment(company sponsored)Â
