Financial Counselor (40 hours per week) #4458

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

Position Summary:

Responsible for insurance verification, referral management, authorization management, and precertification on all inpatient accounts. The financial counselor acts as a liaison between RAMC scheduling departments, Case managers, Revenue Cycle, patients, provider's offices and insurance carriers. Provides exemplary customer service in managing all aspects of patient accounts. Collects appropriate monies, notifies patients/provider office staff of hospital billing policies and services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Relationships:

Reports to the Preauthorization Coordinator Lead; collaborates with other Revenue Cycle employees, and other employees throughout the medical center.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
  
• Three years of experience in a hospital business office, claims filing, medical terminology, or a related area preferred
• Previous hospital insurance experience preferred
• Strong mathematical and basic computer skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Mathematical ability required.

Basic computer knowledge.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to use photocopier, 10-key calculator, personal computer, and fax machine.
