The Indirect Tax Senior Manager is responsible for sales & use and property tax calculations and compliance, escheatment reporting and compliance, managing tax audits, tax account reconciliations, tax engine administration and system management, and tax research.Â
- Review sales & use and property tax calculations and coordination with external tax advisors and oversee data collection efforts of internal team.
- Investigates and prepares responses to notices and inquiries from various taxing authorities.
- Perform tax research and analysis in order to provide a recommended solution and prepare written documentation to support tax positions taken.
- Manage or assist with tax audits as needed.
- Assist with the determination of the taxability of new products and services as needed including Vertex updates to support new products.
- Review calculations for journal entry postings and review account reconciliations. Â
- Ongoing development of technical knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations.
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of general sales, use, and property tax provisions (not state-specific provisions).
- Knowledge of tax provisions as they apply to online services a plus.
- Knowledge of tax and accounting calculations and preparing supporting work papers.
- General knowledge of SEC and IRS reporting requirements. Â
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.
- Ability to conduct tax technical research and analysis in order to provide a recommended solution.
- Must be detailed oriented – with strong attention to accuracy and problem-solving. “Following-up until resolved” skills are a must.
- Excellent computer skills. Skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are a must. Experience with Oracle, Vertex, and Avalara preferred. Â
- A strong ability to communicate information and ideas both verbally and written so others can easily comprehend communication. Â
- Ability to successfully work with other departments in the company. Â
- Ability to lead, mentor and develop a team.
- Ability to manage outsource providers for sales tax and property tax compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to adapt quickly to change.Â
- Ability to provide FANATICAL support.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Â
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.Â
- Master's degree preferred.Â
•A minimum of 2 years of experience in direct people management required
