Role Overview:

We are looking for aStaff Data Engineer to join our growingProduct & Tech team. In this role, you will help shape the evolution of ourdata platform and influenceengineering decisions across multiple cross-functional teams.

Your main goal will be to partner with us in designing and scaling ourdata platform, strengthening both ouroperational databases andanalytical platform, and bringing qualitysoftware engineering practices to all ourdata products andpipelines.

You’ll collaborate closely with theproduct team andbackend engineers, and serve as a trusted partner tobusiness stakeholders who depend on accurate, timely data to drive product decisions and company strategy.

This role is ideal for someone with strong skills inPython andSQL, solidsoftware engineering fundamentals, a background indata-intensive product or platform teams where they contributed to productiondata architectures andpipelines end to end, and the ability to succeed in a dynamic,outcome-focused environment owning the full data cycle fromoperational to analytical systems.

Main responsibilities:

• Define and drive thetechnical vision for ourdata platform andarchitecture.

• Designscalable, reliable, and maintainabledata solutions that support business growth.

• Establish and cultivatebest practices arounddata architecture, modeling, quality, andengineering standards.

• Lead complextechnical initiatives and make strategicarchitectural decisions across multiple teams.

• Partner withProduct, Engineering, andbusiness stakeholders to translate business needs intoscalable data solutions.

• Mentor and supportData Engineers, fosteringtechnical growth andknowledge sharing across the team.

• Drive continuous improvements that increase thescalability, reliability, and efficiency of ourdata platform.

Main requirements:

• Proficiency in Python for data engineering: Buildingrobust ETL/ELT pipelines,modular libraries, andtooling with strong testing and observability.

• Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL:Complex query design,performance tuning,indexing strategies, and a deep understanding ofexecution plans for bothOLTP and OLAP workloads.

• Strong experience with dbt:Data modeling,testing, anddocumenting analytical datasets, managing environments, and structuring projects forscalability.

• Hands-on experience with Dagster (or similar orchestration tools): Designingassets/jobs,dependency graphs,scheduling,monitoring, andincident handling for data workflows.

• Solid knowledge of containerization and orchestration:Docker andKubernetes for deployingdata services,batch jobs, andmicroservices in production.

• Strong grasp of data modeling:Dimensional modeling plus a clear understanding of trade-offs foroperational vs analytical schemas.

💰 Salary 

At Qualifyze, our salary ranges are transparent internally, and we aim to follow a similar approach externally. For this role, we’re happy to share a reference point within the band: the expected salary range is around75.000€ – 85.000 €, centered around the median.

Final compensation will depend on experience and performance during the process, with some flexibility within the range.
