Job Description – Software Technical Consultant

Role Summary

We are looking for an experiencedSoftware Technical Consultantwith strong technical expertise to lead the design and development of critical features. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who combines deep technical knowledge with problem-solving skills, architectural thinking, and the ability to guide and mentor a team in an agile environment.

Your Impact

TheSoftware Technical Consultantis expected to work withbrains and passion and play a key role in delivering high-quality, scalable features in PTC’s flagship PLM productWindchill, with a strong focus onWindchill AI capabilities, features, and modules. You will influence technical direction, ensure engineering excellence, and drive successful feature delivery.

Your Team

Windchill is the flagship PLM product of PTC. Our team is responsible for building and owningmission-critical modules and functionalities within Windchill. You’ll be part of a collaborative team with a healthy mix of experienced engineers and young talent, where technical excellence and innovation are valued.

Your Day-to-Day

• Lead thedesign, development, and delivery of features inWindchill AI and related platform capabilities.
• Demonstrate strongproblem-solving abilities and innovation in complex technical areas
• Define and owntechnical designs and architecture for assigned modules
• Develop, modify, and maintainhigh-quality, well-documented Java code with appropriate test automation
• LeverageCopilot and other AI-based development tools for:
  • Code generation and refactoring
  • Unit test creation
  • Code reviews and documentation
  • Faster root-cause analysis and debugging
• Ensure solutions meetperformance, scalability, and reliability expectations
• Identifyperformance and scalability bottlenecks and drive them to resolution
• Review code and designs to ensure adherence tocoding standards and best practices
• Providetechnical guidance and mentorship to team members
• Collaborate closely with product management, QA, and other stakeholders in anagile development environment
• Take ownership of technical decisions and ensure timely delivery of features

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
• 8 –15 years of experience in software development withJava / J2EE
• Experience designing, developing, or integratingAI-powered software solutions and intelligent application features
• Hands-on experience with modern AI technologies such asLLMs, prompt engineering, AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), semantic search, vector databases, MCP servers/tools, AI evaluation frameworks, and cloud AI services,with the ability to apply them in enterprise software solutions
• Experience withmodule design, performance tuning, and scalability
• Exposure toAgile / Scrum development methodologies
• Ability tolead technical discussions and mentor engineers
• Very goodverbal and written communication skills

Good to Have

• Experience working on large-scalePLM implementations
• Hands-on experience with PTC Windchill
• Experience of using Copilot, AI agents and AI-assisted development tools
