Software Engineer - Python (Contractual role)

APython Developer is responsible for building scalable, high-performance backend systems that power our platform. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on backend development experience, and the ability to build reliable, production-grade services that support millions of users.

The ideal candidate is a smart, ambitious engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, thrives in fast-paced environments, and takes end-to-end ownership of their work. You will collaborate closely with the engineering team on critical platform migration initiatives and contribute to building highly scalable backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services usingPython.
• Build and optimize REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Contribute to key engineering initiatives, including:
• Media Pipeline Migration to Temporal
• Communication Platform Migration
• Work withMySQL,Kafka, andAWS to build reliable and fault-tolerant systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Take end-to-end ownership of features—from design and development to deployment and monitoring.
• Continuously improve engineering practices, code quality, and system performance.

Candidates who demonstrate:

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in backend development usingPython.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade backend applications.
• Hands-on experience withMySQL or other relational databases.
• Experience working withAWS cloud services.
• Experience withKafka or other messaging/event-streaming platforms.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and software development best practices.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and ownership mindset.
