Junior Project Controller in Charleston, WV
- $33/hr. – $38/hr. (commensurate with experience)
- Contract role with hybrid work arrangement (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in office, Wednesday and Friday work from home/remote)
We’re looking for aJunior Project Controller to support the successful execution of capital projects through cost management, progress measurement, reporting, forecasting, and project controls.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their project controls career who wants hands-on experience working alongside experienced Project Controllers and Project Managers on large-scale projects. You’ll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle while developing your skills in cost control, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support Project Controls activities from project initiation through closeout
- Review project scope, estimates, schedules, and key milestones
- Maintain staffing worksheets and project time-phasing information
- Help map estimates to the project control Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Maintain control budgets and Estimate to Complete (ETC) information
- Prepare requisitions for project materials and services
- Compile incurred-cost reports and provide variance explanations
- Update cost management systems with contractor progress, time-phased data, and project trends
- Review invoices to verify costs align with incurred costs
- Review contractor cost and progress information and support Estimate at Completion (EAC) updates
- Monitor project cost, progress, and performance metrics to identify potential trends
- Assist with detailed cost reports, scorecards, and project scans
- Participate in project risk and review meetings
- Support Intermediate and Senior Project Controls professionals
- Assist with administrative project closeout activities
What We’re Looking For:
- University degree or graduation from a relevant technical college program
- 0–5 years of related experience
- Understanding of project scope, cost controls, schedules, and reporting
- Basic knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), rules of credit, and progress measurement
- Ability to compile, analyze, and communicate project cost and performance information
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working within clearly defined project processes
- Experience supporting low- to moderate-risk capital projects is beneficial
