Job Title: Production Manager
Reports to: General or Plant Manager
Summary: This position has the overall responsibility for managing the operation’s supervisory staff toÂ
ensure that production and cost elements are achieved, product is within the required specifications andÂ
compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices, and subordinate exempt and non-exempt talent isÂ
selected, trained, and properly placed to maximize safety and production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Directs supervisory personnel in the management of the day-to-day production operations of theÂ
business that includes, but is not limited to, achieving yields, gross margins, scheduling, both rawÂ
and finished goods, and human capital management.
• Ensures that overall company strategy becomes tactically meaningful by guiding supervisors toÂ
ensure their employees are meeting Performance Measurement Standards (e.g. productivity,Â
attendance, tardiness, safety, and quality), and that the supervisors are communicating withÂ
employees regarding pertinent information for daily, event or seasonal business issues.
• Manages workflow and oversees the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for operations toÂ
maximize Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) ensures that individual employee’s productivity
support business objectives and to establish an engaged workforce through efforts such as theÂ
training of staff and the reduction of turnover.Â
• Engaged in all efforts related to loss prevention, risk management, USDA compliance, andÂ
labor/employee relations. Champion employee safety by promoting, maximizing, and promptlyÂ
correcting or addressing any potential safety issues.
• Works closely with Human resources to ensure the recruitment, selection, training & development,Â
and retention of qualified talent in all operational areas. Champions the training and development ofÂ
existing staff to ensure engagement and succession planning bench strength as appropriate.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or operations, with 5 years’ work experience or theÂ
equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Excellent reading, communication, and organizational skills. Must possess intermediate proficiency
in the use of a Personal Computer (PC) and related Microsoft business software. Accurate typingÂ
skills and/or data entry skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of U.S. currency,Â
weight, volume, and distance measurements, etc.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability toÂ
read and interpret documents and write routine correspondence. Responds promptly andÂ
professionally to customer needs. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to otherÂ
associates of the organization. Ability to deliver presentations regarding potentially controversialÂ
issues, which involve negotiation, and influence positive outcomes among groups of varyingÂ
positions.Â
• Possess functional analytical skills, strategic planning, and a commitment to continuousÂ
improvement. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to improve existing systems or procedures that periodically result in new ideas or approachesÂ
of considerable significance.
