Role Overview

AProduct Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of a product by designing and executing test strategies. They collaborate with product managers, developers, and QA teams to validate product functionality and ensure that it meets business and customer requirements before release.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and executetest plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on product requirements.

• Performfunctional, regression, integration, and system testing for web or software products.

• Identify, document, and trackbugs and defects using defect tracking tools.

• Collaborate withdevelopers, product managers, and QA teams to understand product features and testing requirements.

• Validatenew features, enhancements, and bug fixes before release.

• Performbackend validation, API testing, and database validation when required.

• Ensure product quality acrossdifferent environments (QA, staging, production).

• Participate insprint planning, requirement discussions, and product reviews.

• Providedetailed test reports and QA updates to stakeholders.

• Contribute totest automation initiatives where applicable.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding ofSoftware Testing Life Cycle (STLC) andBug Life Cycle.

• Experience withmanual testing and test case design.

• Familiarity withbug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Bugzilla).

• Knowledge ofAPI testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.

• Basic understanding ofdatabases and SQL queries.

• Ability to performUI and backend validation.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience withautomation testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).

• Knowledge ofAgile / Scrum methodologies.

• Experience testingweb applications, APIs, or SaaS products.

• Basic scripting knowledge (JavaScript, Python, or Java).

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree inComputer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 1–4 years of experience in software testing or QA engineering.
