Senior Consultant (Medical Strategy & RWE)
from 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
Who are Prescient?
Prescient is a specialist global consultancy focused exclusively on the biopharmaceutical industry. Following the recent acquisitions of Uptake and Dolon, Prescient now operates across four core practices: Commercial, Medical, Competitive Strategy and Value, Pricing & Access. Together, we deliver best-in-class intelligence, evidence and strategic consulting to leading biopharma organizations worldwide.
Our work supports clients across the full product lifecycle, from early pipeline through post-launch, delivering timely insights and strategic recommendations that enable informed decision-making across commercial, medical, competitive intelligence, evidence generation and market access function.
Within our Medical practice, we deliver integrated solutions across three core pillars - Medical Strategy & Planning, Evidence Generation Strategy, and Organizational Excellence - enabling clients to strengthen medical impact, accelerate decision-making and build future-ready medical organizations. Increasingly, our differentiation comes from pairing genuine scientific and technical depth with strategic medical affairs judgement.
About the role
As a Senior Consultant, you will bring technical depth and analytical rigour to our medical affairs engagements, with hands-on expertise in real-world evidence (RWE), literature reviews, database studies and epidemiology modeling. This is a core delivery role across our three pillars, medical strategy and planning, evidence generation and organizational excellence, for a consultant who can execute sophisticated technical work and shape it into insight that supports clients’ medical strategy.
Our clients increasingly expect partners with genuine technical credibility and a real understanding of how medical affairs works, the ability to design sound studies, interrogate evidence critically, and explain what it means for medical decision-making. You will be central to delivering that depth on project teams, working alongside senior colleagues across a portfolio of leading pharmaceutical and biotech accounts.
What role will I play on projects?
You will own significant workstreams within engagements, contributing to study design, leading analysis, and developing high-quality deliverables across RWE, HEOR, and epidemiology modelling, as well as broader medical strategy and evidence-planning work. You will draw out the implications of the work, ensuring deliverables are technically sound and clearly tied to clients’ medical objectives, while developing the consulting and strategic skills to lead engagements over time.
- Deliver medical strategy, evidence planning and technical workstreams including medical planning, integrated evidence generation planning, RWE, HEOR, and epidemiology modelling, contributing to study design, leading analysis, producing rigorous, well-structured deliverables and demonstrating medical affairs functional understanding.
- Apply methodological expertise in real-world data and observational study design, economic modelling, and epidemiological methods, ensuring analytical quality and defensible interpretation.
- Draw out the “so what.” Lead write-ups and presentations of findings with genuine depth, surfacing strategic implications rather than summarising outputs.
- Lead client discussions on assigned workstreams, tailoring communication to cross-functional medical affairs audiences.
- Support business development through proposal development, methodological and strategic scoping, and high-quality supporting materials.
- Provide guidance to junior colleagues on methodology, analytical standards and evidence interpretation.
- Contribute to consistently high-quality, executive-ready deliverables and to the practice’s evidence and medical strategy capabilities.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
- Advanced degree strongly preferred— Master’s (MSc or equivalent) or PhD in epidemiology, health economics, biostatistics, public health, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- 3–4 years of relevant professional experience, with hands-on delivery in real-world evidence, HEOR, or epidemiology modelling.
- Prior consulting experience is required.
- Strong methodological foundation in real-world data and study design, economic modelling, and epidemiological methods, with the ability to ramp quickly across therapeutic areas.
- A working understanding of medical affairs and how evidence supports medical strategy, scientific communication, and decision-making across the product lifecycle.
- Ability to interrogate evidence and translate it into implications — not simply describe data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present credibly to senior pharmaceutical stakeholders.
- Collaborative by nature, working effectively alongside consultants from varied technical and strategic backgrounds.
