Background:
PxD is looking for a driven, creative and independent person to join a high-performing, flexible team as aProgram Associate or Senior Program Associate.The successful candidate will play a critical and exciting role as a part of the Project Management Unit (PMU) embedded within the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra. The PMU exists to provide demand driven support to the Department, responding to its priorities on AI-enabled decision making and inclusive service access for farmers, working across various workstreams. You will work in a non-hierarchical team and will have the freedom to try new ideas and build skills on the go with the opportunity to see your work pay off quickly.Ā
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
The Associate will be responsible for the following main tasks:
Liasoning with Stakeholders:
- Lead implementation and oversight for activities in coordination with government partners and other stakeholdersĀ
- Communicate technical information to different stakeholders
- Review materials shared by stakeholders; conduct literature reviews and secondary research
- Assist senior staff in preparing background notes, memos, updates, and presentations for partnerships with government agencies, non-government agencies, and donors
Program/Project Management and Coordination:Ā
- Support the design of program monitoring and learning tools and systems to evaluate program success
- Draft survey and focus group discussion instruments, providing input on structure and concepts
- Contribute to general management tasks important for the organization's functioning and success, including but not limited to budgeting, performance management and hiring.
Documentation
- Supports PxD institutional knowledge management and internal learning efforts; contributes to internal and external communications to disseminate research findings including briefs, blogs, reports, and presentations
- Responsible for project documentation and implementing successful integration into standard operating procedures.
- Maintain summaries of meetings, support preparation of reports, presentations and written communication materials
- Support the team in organizing events; writing blogs and policy briefs, as needed.
Qualification and experience in the following domains are important:Ā
- Entrepreneurial, data-driven, and motivated to build and refine operational and programmatic processes
- Experience and interest in working with government to scale impact
- Strong writing and oral communication skills in English, with attention to detail and advanced writing and presentation skills
- A bachelorās degree or Masterās degree in economics, agricultural economics, public policy, statistics, or a closely related field
- Strong understanding of economics, econometrics, and familiarity with randomized evaluations
- Demonstrated experience working on field research in economics in developing countries
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Experience in a multi-faceted role, with the ability to balance and prioritize across multiple projects and stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to project sites in Maharashtra
- Ability to work under time pressure and solve problems creatively
- Proficiency in Marathi preferredĀ
