The Opportunity:

Role Overview

We are seeking an experiencedPortfolio Manager to lead and govern a portfolio of strategic programs and projects for a global financial services client. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing multiple concurrent programs, driving executive governance, and influencing senior stakeholders. The individual will act as the bridge between senior leadership, program managers, and delivery teams to ensure proactive risk management, predictable delivery, and alignment to business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Program Management

  • Manage and oversee a portfolio of multiple projects and programs across business and technology functions.
  • Ensure alignment of portfolio objectives with organizational and client strategic goals.
  • Drive execution excellence, delivery predictability, and portfolio-level performance reporting.
  • Monitor project health, milestones, dependencies, and overall portfolio outcomes.

Executive Stakeholder Management

  • Partner closely with Senior Leadership Teams (SLTs), client executives, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, concise, and executive-ready status updates on portfolio performance.
  • Influence decision-making through data-driven insights, recommendations, and risk assessments.
  • Build trusted relationships across client and internal leadership teams.

Governance & Reporting

  • Establish and lead governance forums, steering committees, operational reviews, and executive status reviews.
  • Create and present portfolio dashboards highlighting delivery status, financials, risks, dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Ensure governance actions are tracked and closed in a timely manner.
  • Standardize reporting and portfolio management practices across programs.

Risk & Dependency Management

  • Proactively identify portfolio-level risks, issues, and inter-program dependencies.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Project Managers, and Delivery Leads to surface risks early.
  • Drive mitigation plans and escalation management to prevent delivery impact.
  • Maintain clear visibility of critical risks and provide recommendations to leadership.

Delivery Collaboration

  • Work closely with PMs, Delivery Managers, Architects, and Functional Leads to ensure successful project execution.
  • Challenge assumptions, identify bottlenecks, and drive corrective actions where required.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Financial & Commercial Oversight

  • Track budget, forecasts, resource utilization, and portfolio financials.
  • Ensure portfolio investments deliver expected business value and outcomes.
  • Support planning cycles, prioritization discussions, and investment decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 15+ years of overall experience with at least 5 years in Portfolio/Program Management leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple large-scale projects and programs concurrently.
  • Strong experience working with Financial Services, Banking, Credit Bureau, Lending, Payment, or FinTech organizations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to engage and influence SLT/CXO-level stakeholders.
  • Expertise in governance setup, portfolio reviews, steering committees, and executive reporting.
  • Proven ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with global and cross-functional teams.

Preferred

  • PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed delivery teams.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Clarity, Planview, or similar platforms.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in IT Services, Program Management, Portfolio Management, or Delivery Leadership, with significant experience in theFinancial Services / Banking / Credit / FinTech domain.
